The Garden Route Botanical Gardens in Caledon Street in the heart of the Garden Route and has become a conservation and environmental education hub for the Southern Cape of South Africa. It Showcases a plethora of
indigenous vegetation with the Outeniqua Mountains as backdrop.
Established by a dedicated group of volunteers in 1997, with private funding, the gardens are will worth a visit. There is a tea garden, will laid out paths, picnic areas, benches, a her-barium, a nursery and a small dam around which waterfowl can be admired.
The dam was established in 1811 when George was founded and was the town’s firs water supply. Some of the original furrows can still be found in the gardens. Fynbos, forest and succulent varieties are well maintained by a dedicated staff. See the Medicinal Mount and visit the office to buy books and maps about the region. Entrance is free. For more

Sonya currently resides in Bali where she has recently received her 200 hour teacher training certificate in viyasa yoga and has been practising yoga for more than a decade. While on holiday Sonya would like to give back to the community. So bring a yoga mat and a smile, R80 will get you into your downward dog, and the money will go to the real pooches, beginners are welcome too.

Plant sale: It is that time of year again and the Garden Route Botanical Garden is gearing up for a fantastic Spring Indigenous Plant Sale. This year you will have the pleasure of buying plants from a variety of nurseries and various other growers all participating.
Indigenous plants such as succulents, aloes, bulbs, medicinal plants, shrubs, trees, proteas, ericas, restios, annuals, perennials, flowers and herbs will be available in abundance. Furthermore, expert gardening advice will be available along with all your gardening needs. As well as a Bonsai Exhibition.
