Dear Businesspeople

After a successful September Boerie Bash, with R 3 300.00 being raised for the Rondevlei Primary School, we are in full swing for an October Beer Fest themed Boerie Bash, with an aim to raise funds for the local Lions Club.

By way of a background, Lions International is the largest service club organisation in the world, which started in 1917. It consists of a group of more than 1,400,000 men and women in 45,000 clubs in 192 countries around the globe, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others. Sedgefield’s own Club was founded in June 1986. With the assistance of the community, they have been tirelessly serving those in need in Sedgefield. Their projects include vision testing and the provision of spectacles, distribution of food parcels, school clothing, blood pressure and sugar testing, provision of wheelchairs, financial assistance and aid in various forms to surrounding schools, provision of play parks, a new much needed dining room to the Sedgemeer Park for the aged, a medical response vehicle and equipment for the Fire Department, the NSRI rubber-duck for beach rescue, and much, much more. The Sedgefield Lions aim to bring the unparalleled service of Lions Clubs International to our community, and we hope to assist them this month by raising some money to put towards their amazing projects.

There will be a cash bar available and the sponsors will be serving special bratwurst boerie rolls with some nice sauce to add a little flavour. They have also donated some prizes for the evening’s lucky draws. As entertainment, the Lions have arranged that Eugene and Kim from Liquid Sound spoil us with music for the entire evening. They plan to liven up the October Fest theme, to make the event as festive as possible.

Though we are aiming to raise funds to support The Sedgefield Lions Club, we also hope to create a social networking opportunity for all local businesses. The Lions Club and sponsors are putting a lot of effort into the evening's co-ordinating, by pitching an outside tent, supplying tasty boerewors rolls, organising a cash bar and creating a fabulous October Fest theme, so please do come and join in on the fun.
